Chelseagrin Goes to ComicCon - Read about our adventures!

Some of us took a trip to NYCC to scope out Joker stuff, and to find out if DC/WB would pony up something good. Read our account and see pictures in our gallery!

New TDK images - Five new banners available online

Omlete.br was the first to break the new international posters. Turns out, they are banners rather than official posters, but The Joker one took our breath away. Look for all of the banners to be up in our gallery shortly!

Aaron Eckhart calls Heath 'electric.'

An article mainly focused on Aaron's new role, but we felt it was Heath worthy for the quote below:

"Whenever he was around, there was electricity. People knew. He had the total respect of the crew and they liked to watch him. Crews think that most actors are pompous, arrogant so-and-sos. To be 28 years old and to have that depth and independent thinking was remarkable," he said. "As much as it saddens me what's happened, I just am so grateful that he is in this movie and that I got to work with him. I think everybody on the set felt the same way."

Ledger's Joker 'incredibly memorable.'

Sadly, we had hoped to be reporting on Heath's reaction to his face on action figures, and the pandemonium that is going to be the promo machine for The Dark Knight. However, it's still wonderful to hear more accolades for Heath's performance as The Joker. A great article from MTV, which detains Nolan, Gyllenhaal and Bale's reaction to Heath's performance:

"It was tremendously emotional, right when he passed, having to go back in and look at him every day," Nolan revealed of his mind-set while editing the movie in the weeks following Heath Ledger's tragic death. "But the truth is, I feel very lucky to have something productive to do, to have a performance that he was very, very proud of, and that he had entrusted to me to finish."

Ledger's death fans Joker mania in `Dark Knight'

An interesting article from the AP, mostly about Heath, but also about the success of posthumous movies, and the now common parallels between Heath and James Dean. Some great quotes from Christian Bale, Chris Nolan and Ang Lee - some of which we've heard in other places, but still worth repeating.

"It was punk, it was `A Clockwork Orange, it was druggie. It was this kind of fantastic, anarchic look to him. This character who had absolutely no rules whatsoever," said Christian Bale, who returns as rich guy Bruce Wayne and his crime-fighting alter-ego Batman. "That's not like any Joker I've ever seen before, what I saw Heath do."

We still miss you, Heath. ;(

Deviant Art Fraud!

Please be aware that we have been informed that user(s) on Deviant Art are posting Chelseagrin artwork and claming it as their own. We would like visitors to our site to know that none of the artists who are a part of Chelseagrin post on Deviant Art. All original Chelseagrin art is posted only at this site, SuperHeroHype and the respective artist's LJ.

If you see artwork posted on Deviant Art, please be aware that it is NOT posted by any member of Chelseagrin, and is a fraudulent representation of our site. We appreciate the visitors who have alerted us to current issue and we hope to have it resolved soon.

ETA: Our friend, Edward Pun, DOES have his artwork up at DA, and we have a piece of his in our gallery. He was gracious enough to share it with us, as it is his own interpretation of Mr. J. The above statement does stand in terms of Chelseagrin created work, but Edward's work does not fall under that. We thank everyone who e-mailed us about it!

Batman’s Burden: A Director Confronts Darkness and Death

A DREARY office plaza at Wabash Street and the river, late afternoon. A mist blows in from Lake Michigan. Producers and idle actors huddle under a flimsy canopy; grips hastily unfold another over their high-priced gear. A few stories overhead, a stunt double in a familiar black-caped costume swings from a hoist, slamming into a window in a Mies van der Rohe tower that we shall imagine is Gotham City Hall. A noose is around his neck, a knife plunged into his heart.
